چکیده
The Western tragopan (Tragopan melanocephalus) is recorded in the IUCN Red List of 2017 as a Vulnerable bird species Pakistan. This study was conducted to investigate and resolve conservation challenges surrounding two major habitat zones - Salkhala Game Reserve Machiara National Park. arranged May-June 2020 for call count census. Local residents’ perceptions suitability map were developed using MaxEnt model based on previously occurrence points well survey. A total 26 western Tragopans identified by during sampling period. Results modeling showed that suitable habitats are small patchy We found Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) with 40.6 percent contribution most important variable shaping distribution. Our some new patches which can be target future field monitoring finding populations species. provides valuable information globally threatened avian flagship

Climate change may threaten habitat suitability of threatened plant species within Chinese nature reserves
Climate change has the potential to alter the distributions of threatened plant species, and may therefore diminish the capacity of nature reserves to protect threatened plant species. Chinese nature reserves contain a rich diversity of plant species that are at risk of becoming more threatened by climate change. Hence, it is urgent to identify the extent to which future climate change may comp...
متن کاملMonitoring Rarity: The Critically Endangered Saharan Cheetah as a Flagship Species for a Threatened Ecosystem
Deserts are particularly vulnerable to human impacts and have already suffered a substantial loss of biodiversity. In harsh and variable desert environments, large herbivores typically occur at low densities, and their large carnivore predators occur at even lower densities. The continued survival of large carnivores is key to healthy functioning desert ecosystems, and the ability to gather rel...
متن کاملHabitat suitability modeling for wild goat (Capra aegagrus) in a mountainous arid area, central Iran
Wild goat (Capra aegagrus) is one of the most prominent mountain mammals dispersed in many habitats in Iran. However, few studies on the relationship between this species and its habitat have been conducted. This species is recognized as one of the main food source for highly endangered species such as cheetah and leopard. In this study which lasted from fall 2009 through summer 2011, seasona...
متن کاملHabitat Modeling for Biodiversity Conservation
Habitat models address only 1 component of biodiversity but can be useful in addressing and managing single or multiple species and ecosystem functions, for projecting disturbance regimes, and in supporting decisions. I review categories and examples of habitat models, their utility for biodiversity conservation, and their roles in making conservation decisions. I suggest the use of influence d...
